LJMU Byrom Street Campus Overcladding
The overcladding of LJMU’s Byrom Street campus was undertaken in 2 stages over an 18 month period. Due to the longevity of the project, the majority of the work commenced during term-time in a ‘live’ environment causing no disruption to the scheduled teaching timetables.
The invasive works required the removal of the existing windows and installation of new windows/internal linings to over 300 rooms. All of which were individually programmed and executed with precision. This whole project was fully project managed by the Hightown Group for and on behalf of LJMU and led to further works across the campus utilising the Hightown Group project management team.

“AG Hill Chartered Building Services Engineers have worked successfully with Hightown Construction on several projects across the University spectrum. Hightown proved that they are very client orientated and non-contractual, open to advice and ideas from outside of their structure with a very flexible and progressive attitude to construction delivery, more akin to the partnering arrangements suggested by Latham as the ideal methodology with which to approach construction, as opposed to the more common adversarial method”.
Hightown Group are a competent and professional general building contractor who have worked for many years at Liverpool John Moore’s University undertaking reactive maintenance and principle contractor roles.
